Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed is the twin to Geistlich Bio-Gide®, the leading collagen membrane for oral tissue regeneration. In comparison Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed has a smoother surface, a firmer feel and is easier to cut. Therefore it is especially suitable for dentists who would like alternative handling properties. Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed should be used in combination with a space-creating bone graft material such as autologous bone or Geistlich Bio-Oss® or Geistlich Bio-Oss® Collagen.
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed has the same unique bilayer structure as Geistlich Bio-Gide® (SEM, stained blue, 100x).
High (macrostructural) similarity of Geistlich Bio-Gide® to human collagen (SEM 2000x, Prof. Dr. Brenner).
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed has a smoother surface, a firmer feel and is easier to cut compared to Geistlich Bio-Gide®.
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed is naturally resorbable and does not have to be removed in a second surgery. Thereby it simplifies the operation technique.
Application
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed should be used in combination with a void-filling bone graft material such as autologous bone or Geistlich Bio-Oss® or Geistlich Bio-Oss® Collagen. Application of Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed membrane is easy:
- Measure the defect with a periodontal probe.
- Cut the dry collagen membrane to the desired shape and size.
- Apply dry with the rough side facing the defect.
- Moisten the membrane in situ with blood from the defect.
Fixation by sutures or pins is possible.
CBCT image showing the bone volume prior to implantation. The bone has been regenerated with an autologous bone block. However, due to bone resorption, the area needs additional augmentation at the time of implant placement.
Intra-operative view of the implant inserted into the regenerated bone with need for modelling of the bony contour to improve esthetic outcome in region 11.
Augmentation of the crest with Geistlich Bio-Oss® small granules covered with Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed to improve hard tissue contour and esthetic outcome.
Stabilization of Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed by pins (vestibular) and resorbable sutures (palatal) immobilizing the graft.
Primary wound closure is obtained after flap passivation and internal-external sutures.
Eight days follow-up of the augmented site. Good primary wound healing is obtained without dehiscence.
